I created this instructional video to illustrate Mike Caulfield’s Four Moves or S.I.F.T. method of evaluating sources online. S.I.F.T. is an acronym to help learners remember to take the following four moves—or actions—when encountering information: STOP, INVESTIGATE (the source), FIND (better/more coverage), and TRACE (the original context).
Rather than categorize information sources as “good” or “bad,” S.I.F.T. encourages learners to re-contextualize information—to reconstruct the necessary context to read, view, or listen to digital content effectively.

This video could be shared as a stand-alone instructional video; however, it might work best as an introduction to a more in-depth evaluation activity or lesson.
